透過網路，我們看到一個『想看到』的世界，而不是『必須』看到的」，簡單來說，「同溫層」就像處在一個與自己擁有類似生活習慣、喜好、價值觀等的圈圈中互相交流，而選擇性忽略與自身周遭關聯度較低的資訊。一般人可能不會發覺自己已處在同溫層中，而若要跨越同溫層則要盡量擴大取得資訊的管道、強迫自己接觸不同觀點的資訊，並對任何資訊抱持懷疑態度或尋找不同年齡層、領域的人交換想法，以避免長期處於同溫層，而框限自己的思考能力。
